Butler Outdoors is a Whitetail Land Consulting company that provides wildlife and habitat consulting services to hunters and landowners across the state of Illinois. With over 30 years of whitetail deer hunting experience, and over 10 years of habitat improvement experience, Butler Outdoors is able to provide custom management plans to fit nearly any clients needs.
I specialize in small property management plans that are designed for landowners who are on a budget. By limiting my service area to the state of Illinois, and focusing on smaller properties, I am able to keep my cost down, and intern, save my clients money. Why spend thousands of dollars on a consultant to develop a habitat improvement plan, when you can save that money and apply it towards those projects within the plan.

About Me
I harvested my first deer back in 1987, and I have been obsessed with whitetail deer, deer hunting, and habitat management ever since.
Like many consultants, I started out assisting friends and families with improving their properties, and have really developed a passion for it. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with landowners and hunters across Central Illinois on properties that have ranged from less than 55 acres on up to nearly 800 acres.
Being an avid hunter myself, I have been extremely fortunate to have harvested many P&Y bucks over the years, but I feel even more fortunate to have helped many of my friends, and family members connect with some of their biggest bucks ever! The enjoyment I get from assisting others, and my passion for the outdoors, is what has lead me to providing whitetail land consulting services.

I pride myself on using techniques that will guarantee results, and ones that can fit into anyone’s budget! Owning my own small property, and performing all of the habitat work myself gives me the opportunity to test and evaluate many different methods and techniques to ensure real world results!

Habitat and Hunting Improvement Plan
With this service, I spend a minimum of a full day on site with each client. This time is spent in order to tour the property, get to know the client and their goals, and also to familiarize myself with the surrounding areas. With this plan, the client can expect the following:
- A marked digital map with recommended food plot locations and planting suggestions, TSI, switch grass, and other bedding location recommendations, recommended stand and blind locations, access routes, etc.
- Written plan with detailed notes, purposed timeline, and a prioritized list of projects to meet the clients needs.
- A list of resources to help the client reach their management goals. This can include government programs that are available, foresters, timber buyer, etc.
- My personal guarantee and my availability for assistance for as long as the client owns the property or as long as I am still in business. I will have a copy of every clients plan on file so at anytime after my initial visit, I will be available for questions, information, recommendations, etc. and can reference your individual plan if needed.

Whitetail Hunting Plan
With this service I design a plan to hunt the client’s property as it is. I will spend a full day to scout the property and develop a plan on how to hunt the property in the most effective manner. With this service, the client can expect the following:
- A marked digital map with stand and blind recommendations, entry and exit routes.
- Detailed notes with recommendations on when to hunt each location based on wind direction, time of year, hunting strategies and techniques, etc.

- My personal guarantee and my availability for assistance for as long as the client owns the property or as long as I am still in business. I will have a copy of every clients plan on file so at anytime after my initial visit, I will be available for questions, information, recommendations, etc. and can reference your individual plan if needed.

Food Plot Plan
If all a client needs is assistance with designing and creating food plots, I can offer that service as well. Many clients don't need or want a full habitat plan, and they may only need some advice on where and what to plant to get them started with food plots.
With this service, the client can expect the following:

- A digital map that includes recommended food plot size, shape, and location etc.
- Physically marking the outline of food plots by use of flagging and/or marking paint if needed.
- List of recommended planting options with instructions on when and how to plant.
- A list of resources that can provide services to clear, plant and provide weed control for the plots if needed.

Trail Camera Surveys
With the trail camera survey service, I will strategically place a predetermined number of trail cameras (based on the acreage and physical makeup of the property) for a predetermined amount of time (minimum of two weeks).
With this service, the client can expect the following:
A written report including:
- approximate sex ratio
- recommended harvest numbers
- any needs for additional food plots or increased native food sources
- predator management recommendations, etc.
